For Goa is more Hindu than Latin, with more temples than churches. For its hinterlands are far removed from the sea, and wildlife teems in its hilly jungles, even though Goa has come to mean beaches to most visitors. And it is closely linked with Indian mythology, even though most are familiar with its more recent Portuguese heritage.

Yet, Goa’s image of a relaxing destination, of a hard-working but warm-hearted people and their sense of joie de vivre is only too real, Goa lives to a rhythm that is its own dictated by the sea and nature’s bounty. It sleeps in the sun, believes in its siesta, and is serious about enjoying life to the hilt.
